What’s on Android 9 Pie?
As everyone knows the Android Pie is the 16th Android Version from the Google. Now, just in case you never noticed, Google always name their Android Versions after a name of a Sweet Dish or a Desert. This time too, the company managed to name this latest version of Android 9 Pie after a sweet dessert as well. The Google named its Android 9 as “Pie”.
The latest Android 9 Pie is considered to be one of the major upgrades over the previous Android version Oreo. The Android 9 Pie brings many huge updates over the previous versions. Since the Android P has already rolled out for a variety of devices like Google Pixel 2 and 2XL, we got to test some of the Android 9 Pie features. So now, let us take a look at some of the Android 9 Pie features. \
Features of Android 9 Pie
Here are some of Android 9 Pie features that we think are worth sharing:
New Gestures
Android 9.0 Pie comes with a lot of new gestures. The standard three-button on screen Navigation Soft Keys are replaced with a single pill-shaped icon. Users can perform various tasks using these gestures on this new navigation bar. For instance, users can just long tap on this digital button in order to start the Google Assistant. Swiping up from the bar brings up the recent apps menu. If for some reasons, users don’t get comfortable with this new navigation bar or simply don’t wanna use it. Then, they can easily switch back to the standard three-button navigation softkeys by going to their Android Device’s Settings.
App Timer
App timer is another great feature which is added to the Android 9.0 Pie. With this feature, the users can set a time limit for each app. The main motive of this feature is to not let the user waste his or her valuable time on invaluable tasks. So, the next time you spent a lot of time watching your favorite show on Netflix or YouTube, you can minimize it down and instead do something productive.
A Dashboard
The Latest version of Android 9.0 Pie features has an all-new Dashboard. Using this, the users can track their usage, they need not use a third party app for the job. With the dashboard, the users would be able to see:
- A pie chart which indicates the time spent on each app per day and also on hour by hour basis
- Total number of hours spent on the Smartphone each day
- Number of times, the user unlocked his phone
- The total number of notifications the user has received.
And many more
