Lyft Line and uber pool both also it is customers to share a ride with another person who has the same destination or an overlapping route.

What is the Lyft line?

Lyft is an online ride-booking service. It has been in the market for quite a while. Like any other service, you can book a ride whenever you like whenever you want.

Lyft Line is a further feature that the customers can avail of. You can share a ride with other people if you are going to the same destination or even in the same direction.

Uber pool

Just like the Lyft line, Uber pool is again in the market as UberX. You can order individual rides if you are going somewhere fancy. But if you are doing your daily commute, going on individual rides on uber can turn out to be a bit pricey.

Hence, uber allows its customers to share their rides with people to save money. And let’s think about it. if you are going to the same location then why not share the ride?

How do they work?

Both of the services are almost similar. With minute differences between the two, they operate almost in the same manner.

Lyft line

If you want to share a ride here is how you do it.

Open your Lyft app and log in to your existing account. If you do not have an account already, the app will direct you to make an account.  Once you have logged in, you will see the option of ‘select line’. You will be asked to put in your destination details and pick-up point.  Your job is done here.  The Lyft app will take a few minutes and look for riders with overlapping routes.  Once the riders are found, your ride is ready and Lyft will show you the discounted fares. The app will also give you an estimated time because most of the time, shared rides take more time.

Uber pool

The app works in the same manner. If you are a frequent user of the uber pool and thinking of trying this feature, the following are the steps to follow.

Unlike the Lyft line where you tell the app before that, you want to share the ride and then put in the detail. Here you put in the destination first. You are also asked to put down the pick-up time. Next, you can select the option of the uber pool.  Confirm the ride and the app will start looking for riders. Once you are matched with the rider, you will be informed about the rate and also the estimated time.

Difference Between The Two

Both apps may be the same. Well, they may be the same concerning the service they provide and how to select a ride but there are a few differences with the policies.

Fare compensation

If you notice, while using the Lyft line, even if you do not find a rider who has an over-lapping route, you will be asked to be given a discounted fare.

Whereas on the uber pool, if you failed to get a rider with a common route you have to get an individual ride and pay the full amount.

Coverage

Lyft has gained popularity. There is no question about that. But if you live in a small city, there are chances that you fail to get a Lyft ride. There are higher chances that you will get only an uber.

Waiting time

Once you have called the rider, you need to be at the pick-up location. But if due to any reason you get any late, you either get charged or the rider will leave.

Lyft does not allow its riders to wait for the customers. If they are not at the pickup point, the rider has the liberty to cancel the ride. Whereas, on uber, the rider can wait for a little time if the customer is running late.

Pros and cons

Both services are offering the same service then where do they differ? We can break down the pros and cons of both apps.
